Grantham and collection only, damaged?

P90 pre and A60 stereo power amp.

Current bid is 51 pounds and there is about 14 hours left on the clock.

The seller's description is misleading...

The P90 upgrade (stepped attenuator and internal wiring) is £400. The standard pots could be rewired (assuming the pots are not faulty).

There is no detail about the power amp fault - one channel? both channels?

Neither item has any trade-in value. (Pre-owned items that you bought elsewhere will not be eligible for the trade-in scheme. Trading in pre-owned items you bought directly from NVA - a maximum trade-in allowance of 50% will apply, regardless of the age of the item.)

3 hours to go - still 51 pounds as highest bid.

Cheap components for the NVA DIY brigade?

From the descriptiion i wouldn't touch it with a barge pole. Cases will probably be usable. Power amp psu's might be ok but who knows. A very large gamble i would say.

If both A60 amplifier boards are blown, there would be a minimum repair charge of £300. If transformers and capacitors also require replacement, that would be a minimum of an additional £250. Excluding postage.

Still cheaper than new. Depends how much someone wants them and how much they are prepared to spend to get the amplifier of their dreams. About £600 is around half price!

Even if they are both totally knackered, £50 to £60 for a couple of future DIY cases is not too bad and from that start point everything else is upside

Have to own up and say I bought it. My max bid was a punt at £100 as it included the P90 pre amp which sounds like an easy fix or potential upgrade to mk3 ( albeit an aluminium case). Even if A60 boards are gone as noted above I can still use the case and high quality transformer ( IPL vintage aka Canterbury Windings ) to maybe upgrade my similar vintage A70’s to A80’s only having to buy extra caps plus one more transformer. But let’s see what was turns up in the box !!!
