This is the "Barn" we will be playing in. There will be an interesting sound in that room

It looks very nice Stu, as you say interesting acoustics no doubt.
Can't see you requiring Vol 11 in that hall.
Echo...!!!

It is a sound level sensitive venue apparently so i will have to be creative with some volume control techniques. Apart from playing softly with thinner sticks i will have a t-shirt over the snare, kick drum stuffed to the hilt and plenty of gaffer tape on toms and even cymbals. It is sad to have to do all that but it helps keep the dynamics rather than tapping drums all the way through.

I presume you will not have the opportunity for a sound check.

Not much of one i don't think. Maybe one song at the most. Bass player does all the levels from a tablet which is attached to his microphone stand. He stands out in front near the audience and can adjust things from there.

A couple of bands i know have been banned from certain venue's where sound levels are controlled. They just don't know how or want to turn it down. They just happen to be the bands comprising members with the biggest ego's. Never mind, more gigs for us :dance: . The wedding band scene (if it is a scene) is packed with too many bands because that is where the best money is. Playing pubs is not very lucrative. Weddings are often more fun where you can watch people get more and more drunk and occasionally something very interesting happens. :lol:

Got me wedding gig tomorrow. Whistle and flute washed and ironed.

Had to learn a few more songs.

Duffy -Mercy
Dusty Springfield - i only want to be with stu
Steelers Wheels - stuck in the middle with stu

First dance is Jack Johnson - better together. Had to learn that as well although the drum part is super easy.

Gig is tonight :guiness;

Even after doing nearly 1000 gigs in my life so far, i still get nervous. Weddings are a special day for the happy couple. Don't want their memories spoiled by a crap band. I am going to run through the songs on my own this afternoon.

The hardest parts to remember are the endings where the originals have a fade out. :think:

Just got back from my wedding gig near South Emsall Doncaster. Gig went well and was a laugh. Thoroughly enjoyed myself watching the ladies dancing right in front of me. Some good movers strutting their stuff.

One lady near the end of the night fell over whilst dancing and tried to make it look like break dancing. Hilarious, it nearly made me make a mistake. We got fed - well it was small bowl of fish n chips that barely filled a corner.

Bride and groom where in their 50's. They loved most of the songs we played especially Dusty Springfield - i only want to be with Stu. Wig wam bam went down like a shit sandwhich and it was the same at the last wedding. Might have to drop that one. Got asked if we could play Black lace agadoo. Had to politely decline that one :lol:
