The Abbey Vaults was my regular for a couple of years.
Great Times, nice folks, huge pub lunches and a fine pint.

Was part of a folk club that met there every Tuesday evening and I lived in Abbey Close next to Selby Abbey where I sang in the choir.

Used to take the train to York every Saturday to buy LP's at Red Rhino.

It's a small world. I remember Red Rhino. And Riverside records and Cassidy's. All gone now but a few new ones have sprung up since the revival in vinyl got going. You will have gone through the village i live in on your way to York on the train.

The pits closing hit Selby quite badly. It is still seen as an area of deprivation although has it's nice parts where the more affluent people live.

I lived there mid-late 80's, grim times for the miners.

Knew a guy in Thorpe Willoughby who was a drummer as well. Big Bruford/Yes fan.

Mind you, the phone's mic has only picked up high frequencies. No bass to speak of.

Plenty of energy in the performance!

You ever mic up your kit Stu?

When I ran the PA mixing-desk for a pub/club band we hardly ever needed to. The drummer was on steroids which probably accounts for that.

Yes they do get mic's but not for that gig as the room didn't need it. There was one in the bass drum - it is mounted inside permanently and the mic lead exits through the hole for the tom tom mount which i removed.

Phone's have a habit of picking up too much high freq and not enough low. I thought there was too much cymbal work too but at the time it didn't seem that way. You know solo's can sometimes go off on a strange course. I had no idea what i was going to do apart from putting plenty of triplets in like Bonham. It turned out ok but not my favourite solo . Certainly not the worst one i have ever done either. Maybe i need to write one out and stick to it but i like improvising.
