They certainly didn't get a knighthood for their amps!!! As far as Sinclair is concerned he had good ideas that were produced badly or impractical. Commodore soon wiped aside his calculators and computers. I remember seeing his 'car' in use which at least made me laugh. He got the knighthood for his innovations which took years and others to develop into something practical. Sugar is just a salesman but he came close to establishing a UK computer industry maybe by chance. Again cost cutting and product design a problem Ended up making Sky satellite TV boxes. He is better known for the Apprentice and once owning Tottenham Hotspur (which he also starved of cash). He got the knighthood for helping out the Labour government as a supposed business expert. Sinclair I see as a failed boffin and Sugar is just full of bullshit. They both specialised in crap products for different reasons. If these two are held as best of British Innovation and business it's not surprising we are where we are today.Colin Wonfor wrote: ↑Fri Apr 12, 2019 8:13 am Both Sugar & Sinclair never made good kit it was all for a price cheap and nasty, stealing IMO.
But hey they both got Knighthood, so Doc let us make some junk audio kit, label it Made in Anihc. And get worthless Knighthoods.
We could add silver tinsel and Gold Stars to bling it up a bit and tie the box with a Yellow Ribbon.
