Hard, harsh and ringy like a Meridian 105 or Cyrus 1 pushed hard from memory, the rather sweet nature of the Nytech ancestors left long behind IIRC.

I'd agree with that. Bearing in mind I went from one to a Nait three and that many people think that the Naim sounds that way, I think that the pricing is extremely optimistic.

The Oblelisk 3x and XPAC1 were a bit "Full on" for me. The Obelisk 1 and 2 were more easy on the ear, but not up to the nait 1 or 2 and nowhere compared to the Onix or NVA amps IMO.

The Nytech 252 was still fairly new at this point and IMO on a different musical plane, if a little fuzzy round the edges. The amp version 252 was probably better still, but not judged that way back then I recall.

I've never tried any Nytech kit. I'd assumed it would be similar to the Ion amps, but I guess not :D
