I have got the Uddersfield Phono2 back and just opened it. It is not faulty it is set *as at NVA standard settings* for a MM cart. In there is a story that I have been trying to tell for years and no one listens. The nva circuit is load rejecting, cartridge loading is largely meaningless. This had our standard 47kohm load resistor and yet the eeediots who wanted to play games with what was heard said it must be a faulty MC, not so, other phono stages may / will fall apart and sound crap on the wrong loading NOT NVA. It just sounded like MC with not enough gain which is what I would expect it to do. I will keep it back here as my MM dem unit so others can see THAT *WE* UNLIKE OTHER FORUMS tell the truth.

This is why we can use a standard setting with no pissing around with dip switches and other nonsense. The unit going back to Dave will be our standard load of 470ohm for MC with a 470pf RF comp.

This is what I suspected all along. They must have been aware it was set to MM.

CN it is as usual people playing games, the trouble is they have so little to grasp on they make it all up. We had years of it at AoS, this time it was YNWanker, and all he did (as confirmed now) is make an arse of himself. Let us see him write that up on his non-forum.

Hello Doctor,

You do seem to get a lot of aggravation from people online. It's all very sad to see. At least you have the truth in your hands and can see what went wrong. Unfortunately, the other forums may not allow you to propagate it.

Can I ask why NVA uses 470ohm? I am not complaining, I think it sounds outstanding.

Because it doesn't matter with the nva circuit. I have gone into long explanation in the past as to why, I really do not want to do it again, it is in the archive of posts here, if you can't find it perhaps someone will point to it.

There has to be *a load* it is just arbitrary that 470 ohms is chosen.

Yes, I am late to the party, As always!

I'm sure I can find it. Thank you

Predictably absolute silence from YNWanker.

Predictable, because he doesn't read Subjectivist and I've not seen him this weekend to tell him.

Was he really leaning towards 'broken' rather than 'just set to MM?'

Mark knew that the only way to check the unit was to open it up. There was no point in him taking it, other than playing games. It should have gone straight back to Richard.

Well, I dont think that was true. I could have checked and shown (as we all expected) it was set for MM, but for reasons out of my understanding David didnt give it to me.
