Also, the host is not adverse to breaking the law and promotes rip off foo products which he sells. All suspicious.
There's nothing suspicious about sending your phono stage to a bake-off. Jez is allowed to make a good phono stage. He put it up for comparison and it did well. End of.

I'm not a fan of foo, either, but on the other hand Brooky hosts these bake off for enthusiasts to compare kit that he doesn't even sell. He gives his time, his premises and his hospitality. I hope he continues with it. Brooky bought an NVA phono stage and regularly posts about how good he thinks it is. Is that cause for 'suspicion'?

Brooky's NVA should have come straight back to Doc for checking (or to Nick), and Mark's subsequent posts on AF are unhelpful.

I'm with you all the way SP, but up to apoint.

Who in their right mind orders a new piece of kit, finds it doesn't work properly but doesn't bring it to the attention of the manufacturer? Who then takes said piece of kit to a bake off despite the fact that it might not be working properly? To make matters even worse, despite an offer from Nick, who then hands it to an individual with a history of continually making anti-NVA comment?

A recipe for conspiracy, irrespective of what the facts might actually be.

Indeed, why let facts spoil a good story.

If Brooky had something against the NVA stage he wouldn't have spent the last 8 months saying how good he thinks it is.

I doubt Brooky knows anything much of the history between Mark and Doc.

Mark may have wanted to play games. I don't see that from Brooky.

I do struggle with MCRU not knowing it wasn't right before the day. Call me old fashioned but I play new kit the second it lands.

+1
It would seem that the Phono 2 was set up for MM. Then why was it included in a bake off where the cartridge was MC?

Brooky receives (a lot) more new kit than most of us!

Likely there is a very simple and innocent explanation.

Apparently, the response of the manufacturer, of this phonostage, is to attempt to discredit and vilify myself through abuse and ad hominem, via his forum, instead of addressing the problems described or participating in constructive discussion. For the record, no attempt has been made to contact me with regard to resolving the problems I have encountered.

What the fuck has it got to do with you. You shouldn't even have the unit. The only reason you took it was to play games as happened from post one there and seen clearly here by everyone here when we were linked to it and commented at the time by Savvy. The resultant posts have been because of that.

It is very simple mind your own feckin' business it has absolutely nothing to do with you, just take it back to MCRU who should never have given it to you in the first place and he can return it to me when AS I HAVE SAID AT LEAST TWICE I look at it and publicly report and if it is my goof I will admit it.

That would be normal behaviour are you capable of it.

BTW you obviously don't understand what ad hominem is.

AND what problems, are you telling me you don't know the difference between a MM and a MC cart, if so you really shouldn't even have the unit or be commenting. I really am struggling to understand what is going on, it is all innuendo and invention and exaggeration to try and meet your agenda. I will bet the unit is either set up for MM or has MM gain resistors in it as a mistake by me. It is so simple I get it back 10 minutes later it has the right resistors and all this nonsense will be seen as made up and a failed wind up. OR are you threatening to keep the unit and steal it from MCRU or has he given it to you as a gift. Go very careful what you say about it or I will sue you as I have done before with people (and a magazine - HiFiChoice) who told lies about me and NVA products.
