DAC & Interconnects bake-off - Durham

Unread post by savvypaul »

Venue - my place around 10 miles west of Durham City.

Dates - I'm looking at these Saturdays: 21/4, 5/5 , 19/5. Usual 10-4ish day. Cuppas and sarnies provided.

Please advise any dates that you can make.

Plan is to compare different DACs - please advise what DAC(s) you can bring along. I have Qobuz CD quality streaming so it's not essential to bring files / CDs with you. Plus comparing some interconnects - I have NVA, Van Den Hul and DNM, Oliver (Bigman80) has developed a set to his own design...and whatever everyone else wants to bring.

If you can't get to the day you could still send items to me to feature in the bake-off - drop off to me, or I can share the postage with you.

Here are the threads from a couple of previous bake-offs at my place:

5th May is looking most likely.

Doc - any chance we can borrow your £100 Dac, SPDIF, LPSU combo for that weekend?

Bigman - can you make it with / send a set of your Spotfire interconnects?

Herbie07, Toontrev, Quarknosis, herbie07, Andy831 - please confirm attendance and any interconnects / dacs you can bring along.

Karatestu and any other northern based members - spaces still available, please reply here.

All members - feel free to send us dacs / interconnects to be included on the day.

Members of other forums - very welcome. Join HFS and reply here or PM.

Cheers,

Paul

Unfortunately I'm rota'd in to work weekends until 26th May but I can send a Beresford Caiman Mk2 DAC.

I have just ordered the cheap DAC but need to place an order for the LPSU to go with it.
Main System. Amp - Luxman LV-120, CD - Pioneer PDX505 & Hitachi DA 401. Turntable - Trio KD-2055/Denon DL-110 & Ortofon VMS20E. Cassette Deck - JVC KD A55. Speakers - Arcam Alpha connected with NVA LS3.

Headphone System - Little Dot Mkiii headphone amp, various vintage CD players into NVA P50 with Sennheiser HD600 and Beyer DT 880

Hi Paul
I can bring along the cheapy but would need the PSU. May also have a different dac by the time 5th comes around. Lots of gear changes in progress at the moment.
cheers
Trevor

I should be able to make the 5th; just a couple of ICs to contribute, unless a cd player would be useful?
