£790 v £1400 of course it will be better, Lurcher knows how to do it, his really expensive one is always the best in these tests. I have absolutely no problem losing to him.

It seems the Vivant has improved and IMO it needed to so congrats to him as well, but in the one to one no coconut that you expected after your recent silly games and pulling apart of a Phono2 - shame on you sir, and you still can't beat it.

Not a matter of winning or losing IMHO, just a case of what you can do with a given budget, it would be the same as suggesting that the Phono 1 was beaten by the Phono 2.

On the day I think things were improved by replacing the Preamp that had a 3k input impedance with one that didn't (was in use on the last day as well). That IMHO, made a lot of valve stages life better.

I need to build David an active preamp when I have time.

Date for the next Yorkshire Hi-Fi Club has been set now.

Weekend of 27-28th October.

It would be interesting if someone could get hold of a Chord Hugo Mscaler. Have been closely following the thread on Head fi and it might have raised the bar.
