My voice doesn't carry that far, surely? Or do all of those blokes read hfs? If so 'Smarten yourselves up lads, you look like you've just stepped out of the dole queue prior to begging for food outside Gregg's!'

I used to like 'The Nightfly' but over-listened to it, to the point where I can no longer bear to hear it. Obvs I should give my copy to a charity shop, as I'm never going to play it again.

Like the look of those speakers.

Was anything ‘average’ played on the various decks? What I mean is that things like Nils Lofgren live and Fagen etc are fairly standard audiophile fodder, they’ll sound good on any well set up system.

I think a contrast (and a change) to something less than audiophile is a good test for a set up that you might be able to live with long term.

Anything like that played chaps?

Looking smart is not on the agenda of someone so obsessed with a pathetic hobby

Oh. In that case, ignore what I just wrote, apart from the bit about ageing men wearing cut-off denims.

Yes, agree with pretty much all of that, and said so pretty early on...

My choice of the Stones 'Let It Bleed' on a fairly crackly first pressing was about the most difficult, and the Donald Fagen track did show up any timing issues...

Over the last few years I overplayed a lot of records but never felt tempted to give them away to charity shops for example after about twenty years I just listened to the Groundhogs "Who will save the world" In it's entirety I'm bloody glad I didn't get rid, nowt like a bit of nostalgia!

The reason i do not play Prog on vinyl is because the recordings sounded rubbish no matter how good the stereo i used. Where as i have 12" singles from years ago made the same stereos sound fabulous.
