No. But as with most things second hand, it's a gamble.
The gamble can be reduced by going to bake offs and listening to different bits of kit

...or buy from a secondhand dealer who offers home trial.

The likelihood of hearing everything is low. I like a gamble. My money, I do what I like !

Apology accepted. It is becoming quite a difficult discussion to keep tabs on.

I would never buy anything on the strength of a review, unless it was a reviewer whos opinions I respected. I would still need to audition or have a return option. A demonstration of the LP12 in the distant past convinced me of this.
Main System
NVA BMU, P90SA/A80s (latest spec), Cube 1s, TIS, TISC(LS7)
Sonore OpticalRendu, Chord Mscaler & Qutest, Sbooster PSs
Network Acoustics Eno, ifi iPurifier3, AQ JB FMJ, Cisco 2940 & 2960
DH Labs ethernet, BNC & USB cables, Farnells cat 8 ethernet cable

Second System
NVA P20/ A20, Cubettes, LS3, SSP, SC
Sonore MicroRendu, Chord Mojo 2 MCRU PSs, AQ Carbon USB cable & JB FMJ

Headphones
Grado SR325e/Chord Mojo, Beyerdynamic Avetho/AQ DF Colbat

RIP Doc

Dr Bunsen Honeydew wrote: Sun Aug 20, 2017 6:46 pm So you are saying more than one person is lying to me about what you said in private. Maybe they will confront you here about it. Yes you did introduce yourself and no I do not look frail and ill, far from it as my photo in the members photo thread shows. My eyes are very light sensitive and dry easily due to my pills, so I wear dark glasses in bright light and lights at MCRU were bright, and every couple of hours I put drops in them to replace the moisture that has gone missing. If I don't it feels like I have sand in my eyes. Absolutely nothing else could be seen as a health issue.

I have left the health statements up as I wanted to reply, but it will end there, it is ad hominem and in the process bloody rude, do it or similar again and it will be a strike and removed.
My statement was in reply to being asked if you were the same in person as you are on the internet.

I wasn't being rude about you.

You stated you weren't supposed to pick up the Big Bastard power supply as your Dr would have a fit, one of the attendee's was saying how you had been told you only had 6 months to live and you kept doing eye drops (now explained) so if I got the state of your health wrong then hopefully you can see how I came to that conclusion. I apologize if my empathy towards your health offended you.

If you are being told by multiple people that I am privately talking about you, I suggest you ask them to provide proof. I would also suggest people are stoking the fire with bullshit.

You might be right but that's the beauty of eBay etc. I can gain personal experience and probably not lose any money moving it on.

I will admit that I have always lusted after a pair of Rehdekos. I'd love to hear a set. Would I cough up without a home trial? Maybe...they are a rare and unusual design, no longer made. Might be my only chance.

In my pre-NVA days I would very often buy second-hand gear on a whim, (sometimes quite expensive gear). As long as it is at a price such that you can move it on it's an interesting way of listening to different stuff.
Audio Grail "Sable" Garrard 401 with Cumbrian Green Slate plinth / Audiomods 6 / Benz Micro Gullwing SLR, Phono 2, NVA INT400sa. (Oh and a Copland CDA823 CD Player, for when I fancy a bit of the devil's spawn!)
