I've got quite a lot of kit, but I'm currently listening (and watching) a 27"iMac with an airport express feeding a 303 and BC1s, playing re-runs of Strictly CD.

Call me digger, for short :)

Dunno, had a quick look but haven't read it through carefully. What do you think of it?

What do you think I think of it, after reading what I've said in this thread and the What Hi-fi forum thread?

The reason I'm asking you what you think of the AVI forum thread is that you defended JCBrum in your first post on this forum. I have pointed you towards an example of that man's behaviour. So, you tell me. What do you think of the things that have been said by JCBrum and his chum AJ on that AVI forum thread?

Deletion/correction was because Doc said "Jesus Christ", or something like that. Just wanted to be sure he was referring to the same person (by initials).

Having had another quick look at that thread (AVI forum), I'm inclined to think AJ is stating a fact, - quote : When KEF 105s and B&W 801s arrived in the States they revolutionised speaker design in America and that was the end of all those old monsters.

on edit : seems to me you edited your post, hence my comment on correction/editing :-?

Also, having owned one, I reckon the AVI sub is a lot better than the £200 jobby employed in the bake-off (again, only a quick read-thro on the WHF thread).

diggebrum were JC, AJ et al being factual when they said:

That my speakers are called EV Centurys?

That the EV's are ghastly by any technical standards?

That KEF and B&W surpassed the EV's in the late Seventies?

That the EV's sensitivity is about 100db/w/m?

That the EV bass extension really is similar to DM10's (which are how many dbs down at 60 hz)?

That they have lots of boom?

That the top end of the EV's is highly directional?

That my report on the What hi-fi forum was a deliberate red herring or a horrible wind up?

That a Meyer Sound 500 system really is similar to the EV's with a Korneff or Creek amp?

That I was not truthful on the what hi-fi forum?

That my reporting was biased?

That bigger speakers always sound smaller than little ones?

That bigger speakers always sound slightly closed in and never image properly?

That the EV's have one note thump in the bass?

That the EV's have more distortion than DM10's?

That they sound a bit like Texan Tannoys (whatever they are?)?

That I was perceiving brightness and harshness as clarity?

That smoothness to the oversmooth extent shown by the DM10's was in fact the absence of distortion and not the result of distortion?

That I was acting like a forceful character at the bake off?

That anything different to the EV's sounds wrong to me, even though I hardly ever use them for music at home and use 2 other systems for music listening?

That the EV 15" driver goes into audible break-up at 200 hz?

That the EV 15" crosses over at 900hz?

That the EV suffers from lots of harsh cone colourations?

That horns have audible phase issues?

That they are dreadful?

That the EV's are two way speakers?

That lpv was pissed?

:epop: My word ! Lindsayt and Doc, that took you five hours, working from midnight until now, 5am in the morning, to come up with that !

I consider that taken in context, - you must read the original thread on the AVI forum, - they are entitled to their opinions, just as you are on here.

It doesn't make them liars, - that's a bit 'ad hominem', surely, and they didn't post anything here. Don't get so worked up about it

Neither should you assume or state that they are the same person. Clearly, they aren't.

My only point, when joining this thread, was to say that whilst the Doc stated quote : "My problem has only been with him and his sidekick Jesus Christ from Brum" unquote, I couldn't find anywhere anything that JC had said about the Doc.

Just seemed a bit of a situation where the Doc was blowing off steam about something that didn't actually occurr.

Perhaps I should not have joined, and just carried on lurking, or posted elsewhere.

No worries anyhow, I've made my point :guiness;

Cheers, - Digger.

p.s. and if we're talking about 'quotes', lindsayt, - you said this in the WHF bake-off thread quote " Luckylion, I have never been an AVI basher."

Har Har Har, that had me ROFL

Digger.
