KLM fly from Amsterdam to Durham Tees Valley or Newcastle for 99GBP, I'm sure transport could be arranged from there. That's less than the price of a standard rail fare to London. Its not impossible. Come and see the beautiful north east.

As for the shootouts in fairly sure there will be no 'winner' as everyone likes different things and the one thing you can depend on is that we we'll all disagree on what's 'best'. I expect a more likely outcome is people will like different things about everything they hear unless something is obviously a bad match. In which case something else gets put on or tried in a better matched system I've found.

There is very rarely an outright winner in bake offs but there is normally a consensus of what is good. I find a winner but that is for me. I had one a couple of years ago at my house in Epping to find a good computer audio solution. One did it for me which with some input from me became the TFS, which is still bloody good. #2 to my ears was a computer with one of those expensive dongle things to a DAC. Yet there were people there with agendas who tried to ruin it who afterwards tried to destroy any consensus. One was trying to be trade, I think he has given up now, and one sponsored him and insisted on bringing him - deaf cnut no wonder he likes ugly music. I no longer have a TFS for obvious reason known by seasoned members of this forum, but my current really cheap 20 quid dongle thing into my DAS R1 is definitely doing for me from my cheap Toshiba lap top.

Boys, don't try and make the thing all "politically correct", if someone want to call a winner or a duffer then why the heck not. You can usually easily tell those with an axe to grind. It is all part of the fun.
