Not used HDMI as an audio source cable (yet) but you can't go wrong with AudioQuest cables (as Slinger will probably verify  ).
I have USB and Ethernet links from them. Price / quality is outstanding.

Look at the Forest, Cinnamon and Carbon ranges according to price and taste - you experience subtle improvements as you move up the scale.

Beware of fake product from China. :hand:

Is anyone prepared to say these cables offer a visibly better picture and sound than stock one?

Excepting the usual caveats about personal preference

That is a very good question of interest to me as we will be upgrading our tv. Picture quality is the only consideration as the Sky Q box is connected directly to the hifi through an optical cable. I think I could improve on the bog standard one I am using, but it would not be cheap as a 5 metere length would be required. Looking at Audioquest Forest and Cinamon. The quality of the source is a limiting factor. Huge variations on You Tube SQ.

I was, for a long time, a cable-denier, but AudioQuest pretty much singlehandedly changed my mind, mostly because they were "decent" cables I could actually afford. I kitted my AV system out with AQ Cinnamon, and there was a notable, positive, difference in quality. I've since upgraded a few connections to AQ Chocolate and AQ Carbon - because I picked them up as eBay bargains - and the difference is there, but pretty minimal I'd say. Best bang-for-buck that I've tried is definitely the AQ Cinnamon, especially if you keep an eye on eBay for bargains.

I have pulled the trigger on this one after undertaking some research.

I think the cheapie I have in place is sub standard because the connections are loose and the one in the Sky Q box sometimes comes out. I think Cinamon is the right level taking into acount the source and the Mscaler's upsampling needs to be halved to 352 kHz to prevent the audio and video being out of sync. I believe the extra expense of Carbon is only justified between the streamer and Mscaler.

From what I have read it would appear that better HDMI cables do improve picture quality. Something I will have to think about. The new tv was put on the back burner when the footy stopped, but now it is back on. Was looking at them pre lockdown and was most impressed by LG OELD. They have since brought out a smaller screen size more appropriate for the room. Very tempting as we can't go anywhere, are saving a lot of money are watching more tv. :geek:
