On the contrary, this statement makes no sense to me.
Why is it unfeasible that an invisibility ring could corrupt the wearer? You have to go back to the events of the ring's making - which Im certain Tolkien explains somewhere . Dark magic must have crept into there at some point.
A ring that was made in a forge cannot be later melted back in a forge? Why not? Perhaps after the forging -or during,- a magic rune was set into it fixing this very stipulation.
