Re: Doc modding Marantz imperial 7
Right, I have planed and sanded the bumpers (don't know what else to call them) right back to the baffle. Taken 16mm of the finest chipboard off  and also sanded the front of the baffle back to wood. The grilles have nothing to contain them now so will have to make some new ones that fully cov...

Re: Allison speakers
Oh, thanks for the info Doc. I am not interested in them . Just a curiosity about the approach of using a larger floor standing cabinet. If i were to buy any it would be from the first series.

Re: Allison speakers
Hey Doc,
I was looking at THESE
The pics are in post no.3 and they look to have upward firing mid/bass.

Allison speakers
I have recently been interested in Allison speakers.
I notice there are models that look like the 6's with upward firing mid/bass but floorstanding.
Wondering how these compare to the cube dimensional model.
Thanks, Stu

Re: Doc modding Marantz imperial 7
Well the other day i got some chipboard flying with my planer and belt sander. Decided to take the bumpers back to baffle level. Lots still to do but i should be able to make a decent job of it. Then refinish the whole front and make new grilles. Drivers, stuffing and everything else has been remove...

Re: Doc modding Marantz imperial 7
I am going to have a go at repairing them. The front edges protrude 16mm in front of the baffle and one corner is damaged a good 12mm back ! the other speaker is not as bad. I think there are two options. 1) Repair by gluing in some wood and finding some walnut veneer as close as a match as I can fi...

Re: Doc modding Marantz imperial 7
Speakers turned up today. I should be happy but 2 of the front corners are damaged by parcelfarce. Got them from a charity and their packing was very poor , one cardboard box around each speaker and nothing else. I am a bit mad :angry-screaming: :angry-screaming: :angry-screaming: but cant be arsed ...
