Re: Binge watching TV

I've just binge watched the French police drama Spiral in February, all 8 series. Don't know why I didn't watch it from the off but glad I've caught up now, I thought it was brilliant, right up there with The Wire. Great writing, acting, twists and turns galore, with characters who will live long in...

Re: I feel so old....

Anyone else recall hearing One Of These Days on the Old Grey Whistle Test when they used to play odd tracks with added animation?
I was gobsmacked and went out and bought Meddle pretty soon after. Great album, (though as a Manc it's a shame about the Kop making an appearance ;) )

Re: Favourite Bassist

I've been listening to a lot of Steven Wilson solo albums this weekend and it occurred to me what a fine bass player Nick Beggs is.

Re: Favourite Bassist

Unbelievably I forgot to mention the great Robbie Shakespeare who together with Sly Dunbar formed my favourite rhythm section, how remiss of me.

Also, how many great songs has Donald "Duck" Dunn played on? Hundreds, thousands?

Re: I don't miss 'football'. I miss 'THE FOOTBALL'.

I'm a life long Man U fan, and before you come out with the usual gag I happen to be a Salford lad so I support my local team. I haven't gone along to a game at OT for over 4 years now and can't say I miss it that much. I even cancelled Sky Sports during the first lockdown and have never reactivated...

Re: I Tried So hard Bands you've tried to get, but just don't

I feel I should like Rush as bands of their ilk and vintage take up a lot of my music collection, but no matter how many times I've tried over many years they still leave me cold. I’m a big Rush fan. It’s not just the music. Neil Peart’s lyrics are sometimes very profound. Three incredible musician...

Re: I Tried So hard Bands you've tried to get, but just don't

I was sat thinking about this last night and another artist came to mind, Joni Mitchell. Now normally female vocalists are high up on my list of listening delights (Lucinda Williams, Sandy Denny, Eva Cassidy, Erin McKeown to name a few) but there is just something about her voice and style that I ju...
