Re: Life of Pi

This thread is an enjoyable read, seems the Pi is one of the most interesting developments in audio at the moment and I might have to take the plunge. I am a novice but am considering the Allo Digione player based on some good reviews into my dac but how plug and play is this stuff and what storage ...

Re: Hi-Fi Shows

Hoping to get there for a few hours tomorrow. I always enjoy this show, half an hour down the road from me and it is a relaxed show in a pleasant setting. Free as well! Look to be more rooms this year to get round also. Looking forward to hearing the entry level NVA and cheap dac. Have fun if you ar...

Re: New A40s

Dropping the price on the A40's sounds like a great idea, I am sure many will be tempted. I liked the look of the previous cases but I can see the logic of the change and people will go for it. Genuine question but what is the benefit of using a mono block? Reason I ask is that I use an old A60 (met...

Re: Cubette mk2s

Just a quick question Doc? I am thinking of swapping my original mk1 Cubettes for something a bit further up the Cube line soon but do they have any trade-in value?

I am guessing the trade in scheme would not apply and it would be Ebay but just checking.

Re: NVA Reviews (THIS THREAD IS ONLY FOR STASHING REVIEWS)

LS3 and SSP. Well it has taken a while but I have finally gotten round to writing a review as promised, after taking advantage of the Doc's generous Black Friday deals. I have owned quite a bit of hi-fi over the years, some of it cost me a fair bit but after losing interest for a while I currently h...

Re: hi-fi show london 1999

That takes me back, think I went to this show a couple of times (Ramada or Penta?) and remember listening to Sabina Sciubba playing live (what a woman). Also some large cabasse speakers like pyramids with a giant pulsing eyeball pinning me to the back wall (unlike Sabina unfortunately). Happy days!

Re: The NVA Ladder

I will post a better review this week when I get chance but for me, moving from LS2 and Rothwell River i/c ( SC equivalent) to LS3 and SSP was the largest single upgrade I have made. Really made me re-consider the whole process. Even with my fairly modest set up of old A60 and p20 there is so much m...

Re: Things that irritate

Cyclists who ride on the pavement - especially at night with no lights. Cyclists who jump red lights and nearly knock you down. People who don't clean up after their dogs. Pedestrians who just 'stop' in front of you - usually to read a text or look at a phone It's been a long day, I feel cleansed no...
