Re: What does hi-fi mean
If I told my mate to come round 'cos I've just got a bit of kit that is 'high fidelity', it would take him one tenth of a second to call me a dickhead. . I think I could get on with your mate. As soon as anyone uses the term Hi Fi they go on my potential dickhead list. It's a stereo. It plays recor...

Re: Your last listen
I managed to get a MFSL copy of this. It's such a good album. Jack Bruce's bass playing at his best and MFSL have brought it to life with this release. I saw Ginger Bakers Airforce a while after and while his drumming was still astounding he never really got a group that complimented his style like ...

Re: What does hi-fi mean
Okay, more constructive.
Couldn't it just be that the way I am wired doesn't allow me to convince myself that what I'm hearing from a stereo system, even allowing for decent imaging and averagely faithful reproduction is convincing enough. It is after all an illusion of sorts.

Re: What does hi-fi mean
You know its funny. All the Hi Fi forum gurus say much the same 'you've got a crap system, or your deaf'. Yet I've gone to listen to other systems and I can't hear any improvement and often they sound a lot worse than what I have. I could be deaf, but then I've been deaf for a very long time. I've h...

Re: What does hi-fi mean
Hi Fi means High Fidelity and the term was coined to describe the mediums ability to accurately reproduce either the source, or the media. The only way to accurately reproduce a CD is to copy it to another CD. If you want to convert it sound waves, then you have to compare it to the sound waves tha...

Re: What does hi-fi mean
What you write isn't strictly true. You can claim High Fidelity for other things apart from sound replay, pictures for example. If you want to start a discussion about music then really you need to ask a different question. Writing that my explanation is muddled while yours is clear and precise is o...
