Use it in circuit before the BMU?

Re: Transformers

Thanks Geoff - interesting papers well worth a read. I certainly understand that Toroids offer lower impedance, and this must be good (and possibly paramount), whereas EI transformers offer better dc offset 'performance' and possibly a lower bandwidth (with potential noise blocking benefits). Intere...

Re: Transformers

I have read that a suitable EI transformer might be more effective than a toroidal in a Balanced Power Supply - possibly due to inherent filtering of noise on the 50Hz line. Anyone experimented with this?

Re: Audio aphorism

Hi Lurcher

Any thoughts on 'ground' set-up beyond the internals of the kit? I'm thinking of earth spikes, connections to them etc. Obviously there are safety issues with mains voltages and especially PME earthing systems.

Re: BNC

Make of it what you will, but there's an interesting old thread on Audio Circle looking at improving the SPDIF output from a Classic Squeezebox:

Re: BNC

There are potential advantages with a digital connection in that BNC can be 75 Ohm (some are 50 Ohm) and if correctly matched to the cable and kit (at both ends), can minimise reflection issues, and possibly jitter.

Re: BMU

How does the 1kVA version compare with the 5kVA with the Cube Pro head units - apart from the buzzing!?

Re: BBBMU

Does acoustic noise / vibration on the BBBMU transformer have any impact on the 'musicality' of thr follow on kit, or is it totally irrelevant as long as the noise itself isn't intrusive?

Re: BBBMU

That's good news on the transformer noise.

Looking forward to your listening experiences.
