Re: Completely in love with Vinyl (again!)

Congratulations Fret  I can't wait to get my vinyl source going again, be it LP12 or PL71. I can't say I care which one makes it first although it would be nice if the Pioneer was to be my favourite, just for RD and his memory. I have a few first pressings from led zep, beatles, stones, santan...

Re: A message of support

Glad things are picking up for you Stu. The cans of lager are quite a lot. I have been drinking more at home since Covid, but it is not more than two or three cans/bottles of beer a day. I don't drink anything a couple of days a week. Prior to Covid when I was going out I would often drink more in ...

Re: A message of support

I'm starting to come out of this downer now  I have stopped looking at so much schiit on the internet which has helped. In fact time spent staring at a tablet has decreased markedly  I have given up looking at other forums apart from this one and a quick scan through PFM for interesting...

Re: Doc modding Marantz imperial 7

I wonder what "triphonic beam forming" is. I suspect it's a marketing way of saying that there are "three holes for the sound to come out! " Haven't a clue  . There will be some marketing bollox in there somewhere  There are five holes - two for the up and down firin...

Re: Doc modding Marantz imperial 7

No progress here, too busy with work :( Somebody has copied my design though (sort of) https://i.imgur.com/S24j4Xc.jpg https://syngspace.com/ Force cancelling up and down firing mid bass and three tweeters but using waveguides. I like how the support pole goes through the down firing drivers ...

Re: The listening room

Clive, the new answer to all evil is dsp or other room correction (new devilry). Rooms tend to get talked about quite a bit on pfm but then some argue the far end of a fart. I can't be arsed to obsess to the point that I forget J am supposed to be relaxing listening to music that moves me. Sounds li...

Re: Lost for words

My point was that if you replace a fuse with a copper bar the sound improves. Nobody is arguing otherwise. So, subjectively, the fuse is affecting the sound. Why? How? I have no idea Geoff. For me it is something that I refuse to become interested in. It's the start of a very slippery slope. £30 a ...

Re: Lost for words

Hello? Is this the right room for the annual Richard Dunn Memorial" Expensive fuses are utter bollocks FFS ," event? Hello and welcome. You are in the right place but you need to swear an oath that all expensive fuses are indeed utter bollocks and that all said fuses should be sough...

Re: Lost for words

in California the super rich tech barons are trying to change local laws to disperse the legions of homeless because they find it depressing to have to drive past them on their way to a job that pays them tens of millions a year. I should add that most of those taken in by the Wave cable scam seem ...
