Re: Another DIY SS Amplifier with NVA Boards

12 months since I last posted on this thread. Have just increased the capacitance in the power supply feeding the output stage by adding 6800uF in parallel with the existing slit-foil, 10000uF. So now we have 16800uF of storage per phase on the power stages, plus 6800uF per phase on the input and dr...

Re: The reality of magazine reviews

It’s interesting to me that I can remember virtually word for word, parts of some of the record reviews in “Audio” magazine. No other hi-fi magazine since has had as much positive impact on my own philosophies about the hobby. This unlike the thoroughly negative impact from the 80s subjective mags, ...

Re: Your last listen

“The Golden Torch Story Revisited” - Various Artists. Bloody hell…a right Northern soul day today. No spins or backdrops though; it’d be a sure-fire way of visiting the A&E at my age. Going to have to listen to some prog later this evening for a wind down. Maybe a dose of “The Land of Grey...

Re: Your last listen

A fab CD celebrating the famous (in soul circles) mod club in Stoke-on-Trent, which went on to become a seminal Northern Soul all-nighter venue in the early 70s: IMG_1040.jpeg The missus and me have been dancing around the kitchen, having a right laugh with this CD. Feck, sound quality, feck hi-fi! ...
