Re: Houdini

Savvy Paul, good point. shame it wasn't mentioned until now. my mistake, thought we were talking about the Houdini. R.G. same reasons as me, price. That's why I suggested if purchased collectively everyone who listened to vinyl a lot would get a chance to hear it at minimal cost with very little lo...

Re: Houdini

Did any unstintingly inquisitive member try the £25 Origin Live cartridge decoupler? Or is that too cheap to bother with?

Re: Houdini

On Arthur's Facebook page he states... "I knew Houdini would be in the firing line. Convention be damned, it is my most contentious idea to date and you lot don’t like it. - Any wonder it languished in a drawer for 18 years!" My suggestion is that it sat in the drawer for 18 years because ...

Re: Houdini

I have posted a link to a needle drop on Audio Addicts - a FLAC file. I have not done the without version, as I really can not be bothered to take the Houdini off again. With the Houdini on, the music seems snappier, and better focused to me. Most importantly, it sounds more “real”. Obviously, I ha...

Re: Houdini

Yes, £300 is expensive. But how much is a tone arm upgrade? This is always an interesting one. If your turntable were badly set up and I set it up properly for you, it might take me 30 minutes...but you would experience a dramatic improvement for the rest of time. Would £30 for 30 minutes work be f...

Re: Houdini

We are all entitled to express our opinions and collectively we agree that's a good thing, it encourages debate. Often when I read an opinion I disagree with I try to make sense of it by trying to see it from the posters perspective, sometimes this works, sometimes it doesn't and then I am left to ...

Re: Houdini

As it happens I am not " dissatisfied " with my system whatever anyone else wishes to claim, and further more I do not consider this statement as "betraying my utterance" or that being inquisitive relates to being so "2020" as to were i set my financial limits after al...

Re: Houdini

The Houdunnit will undoubtedly do 'something'. Whether that is good or bad, or just different seems to be (from reports) largely dependent on the arm / cartridge combination. When needle drops have been posted, most seem to have preferred the tracks without it, but again that is with the particular ...
