When the time comes I'll be getting my head round the different types of crossover components. EG do bipolar capacitors have large mood swings? :obscene-hanged:
Not if the system is powered by lithium batteries.

Or anything you want to ask just say Cheers It's a very slow burning project. One that I started over a year ago. And may well take a year or two or three befor...

Re: Jokes & Funnies

My robot friend always wondered why he ran on DC when the rest of family ran on AC.
Until one day he found out he was adapted.

Re: 4 way Frankenstein high efficiency speakers

BTW re measurements... It's weird, as I'm sure will come to as surprise on this 'ere bored... These are they for my system's bass...first is measured with the mic where my ears are, the second is where my hand rests on the arm of the sofa...so only about a 50cm difference in position. Exactly the s...

Re: Thought provoking article

I don't think asking for compressed and uncompressed versions is realistic. Take this example, I want the uncompressed version but it is likely that most of my listening will be in a car where the compressed version would be the better option. Re: 4 way Frankenstein high efficiency speakers

As far as bass is concerned, and in my very limited experience, size matters a lot up to 12 inches and then there's diminishing returns through 15 and 18 inches. Also as driver size increases I have found that cabinet rigidity / bracing becomes more of an issue; so its not a free lunch. Whether that...

Re: 4 way Frankenstein high efficiency speakers

This looks like a great project! IME building one's own speakers is a ridiculously good, and relatively easy, way of making one's system sound as one wants. I can thoroughly empathise with the high (or possibly "low") bass expectations! Helpful that you have a few fixed component- and deig...

Re: Concrete sub

Hi Ben, what type of caps are they? I might have the value you need in a Poly type or even a Paktron type. Catch up soon. Best Col As ever Colin, you are very kind. Total value of 133uF required (for 75Hz LR 2nd order), so I used a 100uF and 33uF. Both Mundorf electrolytics. I have little to no kno...
