I have a huge amount of respect for Frank. His voice wax just amazing, like velvet and his timing was first class.
I can listen to him no problem if it happens to be on but I usiually just chose not to. The music does not grab me for some reason. It is very cool though

Re: Doc modding Marantz imperial 7
"I haven't decided if I should use a very stiff product to do this like car body filer or a more elastic product like blu tack. Many people dampen the back of the driver magnet and basket. " Although it may not count for much round here Russ Andrews recommends epoxy or body filler - both ...

Re: Doc modding Marantz imperial 7
Last thing on the driver modification list is to smooth out the backs of the drivers like Ellipson did in the top left corner of the diagram below. https://i.imgur.com/TN8cBGg.jpg I haven't decided if I should use a very stiff product to do this like car body filer or a more elastic product like blu...

Re: Doc modding Marantz imperial 7
The other thing I have done to these little 5 inchers is remove the three little steel tabs which were unused and there to give flexibility as to which side of the driver the tinsel leads come out. There are four of these tabs but one of them is used for attaching the terminals where you attach the ...

Re: Doc modding Marantz imperial 7
Nothing much done here lately, harvest is upon us. I have been faffing with the drivers themselves. There are a few things to do with these cheap drivers that might improve them but without measurements to prove there might be no way of knowing. So why bother. They make sense to me in my head. I rem...

Re: Lightning v Hifi
I remember somebody's complete system getting smoked whilst he was out at work. I have had a router killed by lightning. These days I always unplug the hifi, TV, router etc if I am at home and a storm is overhead. Hifi is ALWAYS switched off and plug pulled from the wall when not in use. It's not en...

Re: Speaker stands
It would certainly be better for me from the perspective of (a) not having three legs near the down firing mid bass (b) they can't be knocked over so no centre of gravity issues (c) any vibrations are sunk into a very high mass construction that won't vibrate like a suspended floor (not that I have...

Re: Speaker stands
I wall mounted my Cube 1s in my last house. This was more to make sure they didn't get knocked as this was in the main living room. I think I broke all the 'rules' so they were higher than ear height in the corners of the long side of the wall with a chinmney breast in the middle. The mounts were a...
