Re: Doc modding Marantz imperial 7
Done some more research on concrete - highly interesting stuff :obscene-hanged: I am looking in to using crushed glass as a total sand substitute. It can give a marble effect when polished up and would save me having to apply a finish over the concrete. It's a recycled product as well  But wh...

Re: Can the world act fast?
We are never going to agree on this so probably best we leave it there. I wish I never started this thread now..

Re: Non USB streaming
Magna Hifi Mano has a R core transformer and tentlabs shunt regulators in it   , as well as i2s out of course. That would be my first choice if buying a streamer.. That could well be the 'best bang for yer buck' streamer, just make sure your dac has an i2s input That would be quite im...

Re: Can the world act fast?
I expect this subject is rather emotive and there are strong views on either side.
I am pro emissions reduction for more reasons than just global warming. Also I believe that capitalism and a healthy planet are not compatible.

Re: Can the world act fast?
I agree that the ordinary and vulnerable people of this world are the ones that will end up being fucked over and paying for what ever measures are implemented by governments. There will be huge winners in this as that is how the evil of capitalism, selfishness and gluttony works. However I do not a...

Re: Introduce Yourselves
Hi Nearly and welcome to the forum. We are very suspicious here of manufacturers claims, marketing and lies so you have picked the right place to be. Nothing wrong with liking Chord or any other gear for that matter as long as you used your ears to decide, enjoy listening to the music it reproduces ...

Can the world act fast?
After yesterday's IPPC climate change report and code red warning for humanity, it is clear we have to act fast to keep warming to no more than 2 degrees. How fast can we cut emissions? Governments are not known to do anything quickly unless it is in its interest or lines it's members pockets. Capit...

Re: Transformation of an amp
My understanding is that Tantalum caps have quite a high esr so are good in situations where you don't want low esr for example where you want a touch of dampening so as not to cause ringing (LM317 output capacitor).

Re: NVA Passive preamp output voltage
Actually this application is a bit different. I have a spare P50 amplifier that is going to be used in an experiment with a Naim Nap160 - which has been modified slightly to accept a standard preamp via RCA’s. Back in the day the Nap160 was by far my favourite Naim amplifier and it would be nice to...
