Re: Mix and match.
Here's the thing. I'm not going to throw money at my system like I did before I had kids and responsibilities and I asked *if it was possible* to mix and match as this seemed like it could be an easy win if there was a gain to be made. The thing is I'm pretty sure my power amps aren't "crap&quo...

Thanks Terry but this person gave me open advice: I will listen and take my own council.TerryMadher wrote:DSJR, are you Noel Keywood in disguise? Your grammatically poor sentence construction is very typical of his often published style.
What is your contribution to my enquiry at this stage?

Mix and match.
Is it possible to use an NVA pre amp with, say, a pair of Naim NAP 135s?
The Naim cable routing through the HiCap is what makes me wonder (star earthing? Is that a thing?)
Anyway I would like to try maybe a P90 in there instead maybe with some special cabling?
Thanks in advance.

Re: what's in a name?
A very sordid family feud between siblings has followed the passing of Mrs Z, who clearly had her favorites - Poor old Dweezil not being one.

Re: Where do I go from here?
Nowt wrong with iTunes downloads. I have a huge 11,000 strong collection of songs bought off iTunes and now subscribe to Apple Music. There is zero audible difference between 256K AAC files or streams and regular CDs...I mean' zero. I wouldn't buy them if they sounded crap, and the amount of new mu...

Re: Where do I go from here?
Some great advice fellas and I appreciate it. I think maybe I should get the old kit down from the loft and listen (I mean the old amp should (hopefully) be an improvement on the NAD shouldn't it!?) I also like the fact that I've heard no "absolutes" (it has to be X, Y or Z - you need this...

Re: Where do I go from here?
You don't say which MacBook you have, the later Intel Macs, certainly up to 2011, actually have a reasonable sound card so they make an acceptable source but MP3 isn't Hi-Fi. If you have an optical drive you can play CDs or import them into your iTunes library, use a lossless option. If your Mac is...

What sort of cycling do you coach? Proper cycling, or that track nonsense? :epop: Let hope it's not that track nonsense George. I coach road, TT, cyclocross, MTB and track. It's all "proper cycling" to me! http://www.facebook.com/photo.php?fbid=10150460232150830&set=rpd.10...
