Re: Yorkshire HIFI club Phono Stage write up / results
I do struggle with MCRU not knowing it wasn't right before the day. Call me old fashioned but I play new kit the second it lands.

Re: Yorkshire HIFI club Phono Stage write up / results
Reading what Ywanker had to say on Audiofart it seems to me that the purpose of the event was to shill the Paradise and Arkless Phono stages. To best achieve this the NVA needed to be present and under performing. There's so much wrong in this it's amazing. So Mark thinking the Paradise sounded bes...

Re: Yorkshire HIFI club Phono Stage write up / results
I'm absolutely sure Mark won't attempt to open it. His asking to borrow it was nothing more than idle curiosity ( and being off for half term), hoping that playing it in his own system where he knows every part of the equation and would be able to work out what the output level was. Re: Yorkshire HIFI club Phono Stage write up / results
I was present, I know nothing about the NVA unit that was used other than it was David's own and the casework appeared untouched. It was no more or less affected by the hum than any other stage that was used, but it had less gain based on the max volume setting on the preamp which was displayed on t...
Re: OP Amps
They're like most components, you'll find a fave. I can stick those two ad chips in the post if you fancy.
Re: OP Amps
Soic or dip? I have a load of op-amps on brown dogs from various projects, singles, doubles. Quite a few of these are obsolete now which is a shame as some of them were stellar parts. Happy to lend a selection out that suit the rails on your amp. AD8656 dual channel 5.5v max supply LM49870 single ch...

Re: What do we think about record clamps?
I think a lot depends on the deck and also on what you wish to achieve with them. If you want to add damping by forcing the record into firmer contact with the mat/platter then a screw down one or a heavy clamp can do this. A heavy one also increases the load on the bearing spindle and quite often i...
