Re: Fora Personalities whose advise is best avoided

Hifi fora are dull these days , with each fora there own island . I'd forgotten what a valuable( and if I say so myself ) funny service hifi subjective once provided.

Thanks for the reminder Lyndsey

Re: Goodman's Magnum K series MEGA collection... Mod advice

Most damping goes around the dust cap , how much and we're is a personal learnt choice .

I had a cap on my Audax midrange for a year , removed it and was surprised by the difference .

Having said that , I've got a dome midrange for my definitive pair and that needs a cap to protect it

Re: Equipment placement v cable length

The use of long phono cable is frowned up because of noise. If yours is not noisy I would not worry about it.

In domestic situations signal degradation is not something you need worry about even with a low output m.c

Just use the capacitor to protect the tweeter and start from there.

Remember you can alter the balance by altering the capacitor don't immediately rush for a resistor .

I use cheap capacitors till I find the value the buy a decent cap with its settled .

Re: Goodman's Magnum K series MEGA collection... Mod advice

The tweeter can be protected just by a capacitor if it's the same ohms as the other drivers . Its largely personnel depending on how you want the treble .

The bass and midrange you dope and run full range and run in series .

Re: Another DIY SS Amplifier with NVA Boards

There is no difference between a phono 1 and phono 2 board. . The difference is the va of the transformer .

So you can call yours simply NVA inspired phono amp 😉
