Re: earphones
Honest opinions from impartial owners are few and far between on Headfi. Its the biggest commercial masquerade on the web.

Re: Kegworth HiFi show
I can't imagine anyone invests the amount of time and effort required to put on a show like that without expecting a return in some form, be it favour or fiscal. The world's just not full of Samaritans like that. If it keeps going then all power to him. Though I'd prefer to see an enthusiast only sh...

But he learnt that from me, it never even understood the polarity on a 12V car battery before he met me. It was my brains he hacked to line is and his mates pockets.

Neither of them is 0v so essentially it is just another analogue signal, it just happens to contain digital data that can be extracted when ...

1.7m not any other length will do.
I don't buy many bits of hifi press but I do buy every copy of HIFI+, mostly because I have every issue since it started and I'm a bit of a completivist and also because I like the photography. Anyway, in the current issue is an advert by Black Rhodium boldly stating that 1.7m is the best sounding l...

Re: Stepped attenuators
If you want purely linear resistors then any decent metal film will do the trick. Anything else will add some sort of flavour. I've used Shinkohs in a stepped pot before and they sound great, not without their own sound but very minimally so. How many steps depends on how you listen and how fine you...
