I wonder what the Doc would say about parallel output drive circuits and output transistors?
Does it really matter what Richard might have thought ?

If it has a good sound who cares ?

Cut the personal remarks and keep to the discussions in hand. :o

If that's to me, I spent over three hours listening through one last Thursday evening. It's the new Rega Aethos integrated amp.

This item is not available by Mail Order and can only be purchased in store.

According to several dealers.

Daniel Quinn wrote: Sat Nov 09, 2019 3:50 pm You got me all excited, till I realised it was a fancy name for nxt panels.

I've got some in my TV, they are not a patch on my speakers, so my excitement was quashed.
Do the speakers in your TV face forwards, backwards or downwards ?

Daniel Quinn wrote: Wed Nov 06, 2019 4:00 pm Hence they are no good for solid state amps
Impractical -- Yes

Expensive --- Yes

No good ---- unlikely.

You can bypass electrolytics with a small value film cap which might be worth trying.

Re: Amps - Whats in em and why?

Show me a supplier of poly 10,000uf 63 v If you wanted that value then you'd have to use multiples of a smaller value. I have some here for my 833a amp rebuild, they are 130uf @ 1900v @ 40A and measure 3.5" diameter and 5" long. For valve amps one does not necessarily need large values of...

Re: Amps - Whats in em and why?

Polys arent used in power supplies for good reason. Polypropylene capacitors ARE used in power supplies, for good reason. :) Commercial designs may eschew them (due to size constraints) but DIY users find them superior. If I built a DIY version of an NVA amp it would be substantially bigger due to ...

Re: Amps - Whats in em and why?

I'd read it again if I were you. I tend to think you need to be a smart as me if your going to be as arrogant as me. Having not been me for 18 months or so while my brain worked things out, I have a unique insight. I'll take that as you saying I was right. Not that being "right" is ...
