player or server?

I've been running Logitech Media Server since c2006 on various machines in all of it's evolving versions. I've also dallied briefly with Roon, with which I did not get on with, but not for sound quality reasons. I've not noticed any difference in sound quality per se between the different platforms...

wasn't questioning your assessment so much as the statement you made that Cisco make to a very high quality standard

The first is fair comment the latter just an assumption unless tested

it also doesn't have to be expensive. the 12V version of Docs recommended Chinese LPSU is less than £50 last time I looked

@montechristo358 thanks for your suggestion but two things come to mind . First is adding a decent LPSU will greatly increase the cost but as you say may well work well . The other is that these are switches designed to be used in a small business and often in large mutiples around a network . Cisc...

there also the argument that using a switch with an external wall wart would be better as you can add a linear PSU to reduce PSU noise

I've always thought than the non audible harmonics add more to perception than we realise

i see the theoretical benefit of measurements to compare 2 speakers but to expect to know what it will sound by just from the specs is somewhat optimistic

might be easier to just buy the CDs and rip those?
