Re: Limerick time! (the sillier, the better)

There was a young lady from Bude
Who went for a swim in a pond
When a man in a punt
Stuck his pole in the water and said
"OI, you can't swim here it's private!"

Re: Obits

I was lucky enough to see Rush live back in 1980. Permanent Waves had just come out and they were stunningly good to my teenager's ears. They were my first BIG band and I was rather star struck by the whole thing. I think I drove my parents mad by playing my Rush records over and over again. RIP.

Re: TV Series Odd and Si-fi

I really enjoyed Fringe. It was on Netflix for ages, I think I watched the entire series at least twice.
A bit more mainstream was Dexter, a rather different way to look at a serial killer.

Re: NVA feedback - what could be better

Richard explained the issues with remote controls when I met him and I fully understand why he didn't want to go down that route. It would be ridiculous to compromise any piece of equipment for the sake of convenience, I only asked him as I have mobility problems and a remote volume would be handy. ...

Re: NVA feedback - what could be better

I would definitely be in the market for a new pre if a remote control for the volume option was available.

Re: Your favourite war film

Mine are mostly set at sea especially submarine films but for dry land it's got to be Fury.

Re: The Fonk

Liking this a lot. With you being a drummer and myself a bass player I think this sort of music appeals to the rhythmic side of us. It was listening to Average White Band and later Level 42 that got me into slap bass, I'm no Mark King but it's very satisfying getting that groove going.

Re: Recommend me a good book.

If you like a good long read, really involving, try the Matthew Shardlake novels by C.J. Sansom. If you fancy something lighter the Louie Knight books by Malcolm Pryce are quite funny, in a quirky way.

Re: Tools

As a cabinet maker I collected a very personal range of tools, ones that felt "just right". When I left my last job I wanted to do something different so the tools were packed away and stored in the garage. Can you imagine the thoughts that went through my mind when I went to get my bike f...
