Well you dig out inactive post and asked you question in a bit of a strange way so I would say it does smell a bit fishy.

I am with Geoff.R.G - do not touch it - have it send to others if you want but make sure it never comes anywhere near you - you will still be accused of messing with it though I am sure or asking somebody else to mess it up on purpose...

yes transformer buzzing or something else inside the case ( I dont know if there is anything else that could buzz) it is on left hand side looking from the front - I dont remember if there was anything else there the one time I saw it inside ;]

I use to do that with my HE-6s now I use NVA amps to drive them so I dont have to as HP socket is directly connected to speakers taps (with small high quality resistor to drop volume)
