Re: Modifying 3 way speakers
Thanks for that. From what you said could I tri-amp with my 3 NVA amps? Maybe get a cheap 3way, possibly Wharfedale linton, as they seem cheap on ebay and give it the treatment.

Re: Marriages made in heaven
So far, for me, the Hendrix, Butler and Redding combo stands out. Just thinking that the brilliance of Redding and Bruce could have made the difference. Crosby Stills and Nash were vocally stunning but to my taste lacked a bit of punch. Willing to be corrected with examples. I am collecting some hin...

Re: Marriages made in heaven
Thanks for the reply. I admit to not listening to /rating Genesis but maybe need to give them some more time. I do like "We can't dance" but this is the only album by them that I have.

Modifying 3 way speakers
I have modified a cheap 2 way speaker with steel plate etc. and wondered if it was possible to do similar with a 3 way speaker. I understand the principles of improving the 2 way speaker but I am not sure how you would treat the mid driver.

Marriages made in heaven
Just been listening to Cream, still trying out my new system. A live version of Crossroads on the cd " The Very Best of Cream" got me thinking that I have not heard any musicians who fit together as well as Clapton, Bruce and Baker. Does anyone have any other candidates who show this "...

Re: New A80 mk1
Hi Jammy You may not have missed a post I may just have got you a bit mixed up. For the record; I was bi amping with an A30 and an A60 and got the opportunity to get the A80s and now am bi amping with the A60 and the A80s. These are using a pair of Kef IQ 5 speakers which I am thinking of replacing....

Re: New A80 mk1
I have been doing a bit more listening and have come to the conclusion that the differences I have been hearing are to do with the recordings. I have been listening a mixture of sounds ; Pink Floyd CDs( which always seem well produced ) sound fantastic and Paul Robeson's voice is quite stunning. Sti...

Re: Sony speaker project
Hi All Update-- I have been away from my speaker project as I have been playing with my new A80s. I fitted a 5 ohm resistor to the tweeter and it seems much more balanced. The bass is precise but a little weak maybe the speaker cabinet is a bit small or maybe needs more dope any way the sound is sti...

New A80 mk1
Moved from classifieds. Postby floydfan » Mon Sep 09, 2013 3:15 pm Hi Update as promised Got the A80s and am bi- amping with my A60s. Sounds good but I am beginning to think about speakers as the treble seems a bit forward on an Adele CD but seems ok on a Groundhogs CD. On vinyl I tried Obscured by ...

Re: Sony speaker project
Hi Daniel Indeed a honeydew mod. Good fun but still working on getting it right. Richard I have added a bit more dope and will do some more listening. I think if I move the speakers nearer the wall this will improve the bass. The reason for one channel being down was, I think, a bent speaker plug. I...
