Re: Longdog PSU with Lenco GL75
Constant repetition of points already made is irritating and a tactic used by politicians and lawyers to wear down the opposition and win an argument by default. Rule 5 - No continuous repeating of the same post or the same point within a post. I refer you to the "its now 10:31 on monday"...

Re: The problem with the Ad-Hom rule on here?
You think it is impossible to respond without being personal? No, but very difficult. Thats the point. The vast majority manage it. Though, that may not be an indication of contentment. How would you police a rule that said 'no being arsey'? Or how would you phrase such a rule? How would you determ...

Re: Longdog PSU with Lenco GL75
Been thinking about this. Now the subject seems to have moved to debating. The problem with the Ad-Hom rule on here (while it sounds like a good idea) is that it is easy to subvert. By answering the question but in a deliberately provocative and arsy fashion and repeating those posts to the point o...

Re: Longdog PSU with Lenco GL75
Only thing you learn by debate is how to be better at debating. You can't derive any facts by debate. You may introduce preexisting facts into a debate, but they can be and often are, defeated by a better debated but factually false argument. It's called debate. Its how you learn.

Re: Longdog PSU with Lenco GL75
Fluctuation outside very narrow parameters causes death of electrical appliances. Unlikely. Most equipment is fine with 50Hz to 60Hz. Switch mode supplies don't care, and as long as voltage differences are handled, generally a transformer will be happier at 60Hz than 50. Unless the device uses the ...

Re: Longdog PSU with Lenco GL75
It would be interesting to see a trace of the 50 (ish) Hz sine wave from the domestic mains. Anyone here with an oscilloscope ? * That will vary from region to region and house to house. A better thing to measure (also carefully) is the distortion levels. Connecting a scope directly across the main...

Re: Longdog PSU with Lenco GL75
No, although perhaps I should have said, it fluctuates at the level of the 2nd decimal point, if you can hear this you are a better man than me. Have you got measurement to 3 decimal points for the long dog? Yes, perhaps you should have said that, you would have been right then. If you look here yo...

Re: Longdog PSU with Lenco GL75
So you agree what you said there was wrong then. It's runs of 50 hertz. This doesn't fluctuate even though voltage deos.

Re: Longdog PSU with Lenco GL75
Your lenco is not voltage dependant. It's runs of 50 hertz. This doesn't fluctuate even though voltage deos. For 60 years or so lenco's have run happily without the need for speed control. Been tying to keep out of this, but yes, the 50Hz does fluctuate, it does so all the time. And IMHO, most of t...
