I can second the recommendation for m2tech hiface two.
60GBP is a very good price for one - if we are talking about mk II version... Not so sure about mk I, but for what it's worth, it's the mk I that usually get's modified/used in OEM state by other manufacturers...

Metrum Octave here with m2tech hiface2 USB/SPDIF. I found the Octave as one of the very few "fun to listen to DACs" plus it has no obvious digital nastiness... Very analogue sounding to be honest. Non-oversampling, filter-less, r2r DAC. I'm guessing I just like the "less is more"...
