Re: Hi-res sample rates - a genuine improvement in SQ, or a marketing trick?

If checking hires vs redbook you have to start with the hires master and down sample to ensure an identical master for the redbook version. Otherwise you could be hearing different mastering. Likewise any DUT has to be checked with upsampled redbook being used to prove that the hires data path itsel...

Re: Amps - Whats in em and why?

Anything beyond a specification and materials list in an advert is hyperbole, including descriptions of the sound. Nva pricing structure would fall into this category if we're being strict.

Re: DC blocker

Buy the sjostrom audio dc blocker, the 6 cap version. Better than all the small units, 16 amp and 8v of dc cleaning power. Perfect for bigger bmu, have two friends using it on 1500va and a 3kva unit.

Re: Remote power supplies

Stu I can only give advice based on experience as I'm not that well read on the subject. For the paradise all the heavy lifting in the psu is done in a separate case. This is connected by a four way lead .74mm quad core, carrying only + ' 300mA at 27v. In the phono box is a local shunt reg. Theres a...

Re: Input selector - switching the ground

Search for the 'g word' by Bruno putzeys for an in depth discussion of ground vs earth as it pertains to audio, especially differential balanced circuits.
