Painting plastic - as well as plasti dip primer and top coat I am going to try etch primer or pva before priming. The advantage of using acrylic would have been no finishing required but hey you can't have it all ways.

What I have read about hdpe isn't very encouraging as regards speaker building. It's OK for the tweeter pod as it's not pressurised by the mid bass. HDPE is hard to paint apparently. Plasti dip might be the only option which is fine with me. I tried some plasti dip primer on an old one today after roughing it up with some sandpaper. We will see how this goes.
