Re: Moving on - upgrading MM to MC, or..?
My only experience of Nags is from a long time ago when the MP11 & its Boron brother were the darlings of the budget-end. The MP11 was fat, overblown, way too rich for me. It was as though a loudness button had been pressed, I didn't like it at all. Tried it in a couple of mates' turntables/syst...

Re: Moving on - upgrading MM to MC, or..?
Having heard both I'd still take the Ortofon, it's a much better cartridge IME.jammy395 wrote:

Re: Moving on - upgrading MM to MC, or..?
Jammy, I've considered Goldring 1042 - some reviews say it's more musical than Ortofon 2M Black that Gromit mentioned to be the finest cart he's ever heard. I wouldn't say it's the finest cartridge I've ever heard, it's most definitey the finest MM one though. I'm not a big fan of the Goldring myse...

Re: Moving on - upgrading MM to MC, or..?
Should've also mentioned the Rega Carbon (only £25). If you like your music up-front, fun and funky, it's great. Not the most refined perhaps, but as DSJR Dave once said 'its sins are only ones of omission' in other words it's such a fun little device you can forgive its faults. Works great in a PL7...

Re: Moving on - upgrading MM to MC, or..?
As has been said, the PL71's arm is a lovely bit of kit - quite massy so it does love 'stiff' cartridges. However that's not to say it won't work with more softly-sprung MM's. For bangs-for-buck and something that can be used into an MM stage, I've found the best by some margin is the good old Denon...

Re: Hi-Fi Pics.
Gromit, Those Q2010's are really interesting me :) Where did you buy them from? How is the Exposure going? S. Got mine from Superfi in Lincoln although you can get them from Deco Audio in Aylesbury, in fact it was Peter Empson who got me onto the idea of them in the first place. The Exposure's fabu...

Totally agree, Dave - an RB on a Spacedeck is something that just works beautifully. Synergy at work? Most definitely._D_S_J_R_ wrote:Having heard a humble RB300 sing sweetly on a Spacedeck rather changed by opinion of this arm - if it's used right!!!!!!!!!
