Re: Naim
I recall a Hi-Fi show at the Last Drop village in Bolton as a much younger man. The Linn room was the hottest ticket in town. You had to register to book a seat at one of their demonstrations / lectures. They were all packed out. Anyway, they were comparing their amplifiers against Naim, bad mistake...

Re: Naim
This company have made some stellar equipment. How could anyone fail to be musically satisfied with the 72 / Hicap / NAP140 combo? A lot of their products fall out of my financial means but if I ever win the lottery...

Re: New AKG K1000
I have to keep them as an insurance policy because one never knows one's future. As Joe Cocker and Jennifer Warnes once said, who knows what tomorrow brings.

I went through about a ten year period where all I could do was listen via phones in an eight feet by four feet something box room. Small house, kids needing bedrooms scenario. I tried Grad...

Re: New AKG K1000
I have the original AKG K1000 in my loft. Brilliant sounding headphones. I use them with a Musical Fidelity A1 from time to time.

Re: Peter Belt gone
Paul Benson was a strong advocate for his products. I never heard any benefits from the few things I tried myself but may he rest in peace.

Moving Coil cartridge life
What are members opinions on moving coil cartridge longevity? Playing clean records within recommended tracking force. I always thought 1000hrs was around the maximum but I've usually accidentally broken the stylus by then anyway. Anybody gone upwards of that figure?

Re: What RCM?
I cleaned all my records using the two bath Knosti method. When I play a side now, whilst it is spinning, I squirt distilled water with a touch of surfactant on the LP and spread it across using the Clearaudio wet brush. It's pretty wet after this. I then use a microfiber cloth with my finger inside...

Re: Cable Talk Reference
Cheers Dave. Thanks for sharing your knowledge. I've been using them for a few years. I have made very few comparisons so have extremely limited experience. I tried some Klotz Rega clones and thought my old Cable Talk's were superior. It could be the Klotz need to 'burn in' or maybe my ears need to ...
