A thought for the day on tweaks

I know this guy isn't to everyone's taste but it's nicee to hear some not so black and white thoughts on what's become a polarised subject.

I just threw that one in.

Think I've cracked it, now.

I'll stop milking it...

Oil do the same.

Re: New Rack Wood or Granite

That's a fine looking way to set things up K, certainly a refreshing departure from the norm. The contrasting marble sets things off well. As to the OP (now long past being a problem lol) I wouldn't choose granite due to it's potentially ringy nature and the fact that it can be a wee bit radioactive...

Re: What should I do with my old LP12?

Best thing to do with a LP12. Stick on a long pole in the middle of the garden, soak it in Paraffin and set light to it. Dance around it singing "good feckin' riddance". I was giving your post some thought Doc and considered a means of "Disliked kit destruction v2.0". Perhaps a ...

Re: What should I do with my old LP12?

Hmm. I can see there are certain things to avoid here! No because it is a shit copy of someone else's design they stole. And made a fortune out of theft. I have no argument with what they did in the past but that was nearly half a century ago. The same could be said of VW who made use of a lot of Ta...

Re: What should I do with my old LP12?

I think a Jelco is too high mass arm for a V15III. If you want genuine vintage low mass an SME III is the ticket. There is a member here who makes the Sole subchassis. I think he may be able to help with arm boards. I'm sure there are a number of other third party makers out there. Why not go more ...

Re: Is there a recognised condition...

The world is awash with foo, we're drowning in it! It's not just HiFi it's golf equipment, fishing tackle, watches, cars, 'bikes, bicycles and... and... and... the list is endless. There probably is a recognised condition, I think it may be spelled g-u-l-l-a-b-i-l-i-t-y

Re: how about this for a tonearm!

It looks like a work of engineering art (even if it is an oxymoron... maybe). Certainly not in the "understated" bracket though  :geek:

Re: What do we think about record clamps?

I use one occasionally on bendy records, the lightweight Clever Clamp being my weapon of choice usually (or always on a suspended TT). I have a few weights that I've tried, nothing fancy, but I find the best way to a flat record and good platter contact is sensible storage YMMV. I find if I'm cleani...

Re: What should I do with my old LP12?

Forgive me father for I have sinned, mea culpa, but that's the way the mop flops sometimes. I have an LP12 lurking, unused for a long time, in a dark recess somewhere. It's pretty old (82ish) and currently armless, it's still AC but has a Cirkus conversion and Trumpolin base. The reason I've kept it...
