I see no reason why anyone has to make a large compromise on the sound of any item in their system if they can afford £200 to £1000 per item.

Jammy, my priority in buying hi-fi equipment is to get world class sound for the lowest price. Looks and WAF are pretty much bottom of my priority list. For me the EMT 950 is a thing of beauty because of the deep and expensive engineering behind it. It is more beautiful under the bonnet than my LP12...

There are dozens of other worthy dd tt's. It's all down to what you see a good deal on first. Anything that was at or near the top of the range from a Japanese manufacturer in the 1970's to 1980's.
