Transformers

Most of the gear i have owned has come with a torid. I have just acquired four lovely EI transformers to try instead of toroids. Can't wait to see what effect these will have on SQ. A year or two ago i used very small (5VA) pcb mount EI transformers for dac and clock supplies in my Naim CD player. W...

Re: Consumerism

Maybe it is a sign of age but i am only just over 40. How much money is too much ? A hard question to answer. Over £50k ? Social media - most people i know participate and must have been born with a smartphone in their hand. It must have an effect on consumerism. I don't even have a smartphone, my f...

Consumerism

Consumerism is out of control. A lot of people have too much money and have to have the best and most expensive of everything. The shiny new car that gets polished til the paint disappears, the huge house (mortgaged up the eye balls). Keeping up with the Jones' is big around here. Having a young fam...

Re: Ask a designer

Hi Doc,

A number of months ago i removed the crossovers from my speakers and paced them as close to my amps as possible (6").

I was amazed at the increased clarity of the music.

I wondered if you could think of any reason this might be?

Many thanks, Stu

Re: Introduce Yourselves

Hi Stu, and welcome from an ex-pat Yorkshireman. (Family from S Yorks and have lived in both W & N Yorks). Funnily enough the landscape here is rather similar to the Ouse / Wharfe floodplain. Saving the planet! - Sounds like a good idea  :guiness; Thanks for the welcome. Yes i live just o...

No, maybe i should have put wildlife habitat conservation. I have my own little 7 acre field which i have planted with trees, dug a large pond and generally left it to it's own devices.

Re: Introduce Yourselves
