Re: Gotham cables.

Took the Gothams out and the lack of transparency and sophistication is more obvious. Last night with the Gotham's in I played the new mono 'Shades Of Deep Purple'. Mono recordings can sound closed in and this was highlighted. Good upper bass with the drum well produced but Blackmore's guitar sounde...

Re: Falcon LS3/5a

Yep when I auditioned them back in the 70's must have been the 15 ohm variety. Wasn't impressed then but if I could have predicted prices being paid now I would have bought them for investment purposes, They have been available in kit form for some time I believe but original tweeter so beloved by t...

Re: Gotham cables.

I've never heard DC in a very small room but joking aside I am perplexed as to how Marco can be bigging up these cables. In spite of the Docs views on cables and valves his system should show these up for what they are unless his perception of good sound is far removed from mine.

Re: Gotham cables.

Further listening reveals pleasing results with digital though a somewhat matter of fact presentation. Putting on my Millenium 180g all analogue Aladdin Sane vinyl revealed the problem. Colouration and lack of atmospherics in the mid range reduced the sound to rather dull and flat presentation. Old ...

Re: Gotham cables.

Funny ain't it. Would have thought Gothams would fit into a budget set up like Frank's and be the limiting factor in Marco's expensive set up. BTW I have a gut feeling that the supplied plugs are not a limiting factor and the best bit. Some people are convinced by expensive branded plugs because of ...

Re: Gotham cables.

I will leave them in to see how they go. Frank on AOS has found them a lot worse than I have. Can't agree with peaky but certainly some colouration. My set of Gothams has finally arrived. Have plugged them into my system and it's not pleasant listening at all. "Coloured" isn't the word for...

Gotham cables.

Have been trying the Gotham cables out this morning. 0.5m between passive pre and active buffer and 2.0m between buffer and Albarry monoblocks. Previously using Chord Cobra plus. First the good - with digital sources a slight bright edge is removed from treble without an apparent loss of detail. Bas...

Re: A70 vs A80

It sounds like the usual confusion that arises around bi-amping and bi-wiring. If the cable was set up for bi-wiring then as the doc says all conductors would carry all frequencies but the thicker conductors would in theory be "better" for the bass, so you'd have them connected to your ba...
