Re: Bloated Stock Room

Hi Doc, Sorry to hear about your 'flu - no need for a fast response to this. I would be interested in your bloated stock, but have very little in the way of spare funds, so: I have a Meridian 101 pre amp in the loft, which I think would be useable as a phono stage with your A40 monoblocks (you menti...

Re: What makes for a good soundstage?

Hi Walter, So glad that you like them - it was the way that bass tunes can be followed (pitch to it rather than a thump) which first got me interested in a demo room many moons ago. Female voice can be very seductive through them - give them a Pretenders track and, like you, I just grin ear to ear :...

Re: Source First?

Hi, Like you I understand the logic of GIGO, after all a crap artist/piece of music/recording/format will not be saved by the most faithful transducer on the planet. When it comes to the playback system as a whole, I do think that the approach should be tempered with some common sense. I wouldn't th...

Re: What Turntable

Hi, This is one of my father in laws favourite quotations: "Annual income twenty pounds, annual expenditure nineteen pounds nineteen and six, result happiness. Annual income twenty pounds, annual expenditure twenty pounds ought and six, result misery." Mr Micawber - David Copperfield by Ch...

Re: Small speaker recommendations

Hi, I can vouch for the Kyte, I use a pair in the kitchen/dining room (mainly with a tuner). They don't have masses of deep base (not possible given the size of driver and enclosure), but seem to be a well balanced speaker which draws me in to the content of the program. Very entertaining in my view...

Re: My hifi is a disaster 1 problem at a time .

Hi Daniel, Sorry to hear about your music problem (but congratulations on the family!). Perhaps stating the obvious but have you tried the various permutations of speaker placement that the bay allows in you 3x3 box? If nothing else it wil give you something to play around with for no cost. Before w...

Re: record cleaning

Hi Zebbo, No I can't imagine doing the lot with glue, lifes too short! I was thinking more along the lines of if I play a record and it sounds bad, then clean it. Any records that don't get played don't need cleaning. Interesting that you managed to get a second hand Moth Pro - lucky so and so. I lo...
