Re: Linn Lies

As more and more truths come out about Ivor, and the Company, on the WWW there is likely to be an effect. To all intents and purposes Linn do not cater for audiophiles today, except for the completely brainwashed who first bought into the myth decades ago and remain blind to the error of their ways....

Re: Linn Lies

Corrections. Hamish's original bearing was a ball bearing. Castle designed the hardened point and thrust plate bearing "for him" to an order. Castle then decided to apply for a patent on the bearing cutting Hamish out. Hamish and Ivor met when he came to work for his dad in uni holidays, ...

Re: Linn Lies

I started this thread because Ivor’s son, a chip off the old block but less smart, is attempting to distort history under the cover of the mists of time. It seems his intention, via the priesthood, was to transfer what is on the Linn website to Wikipedia . The clandestine origin of Linn products is ...

Re: Linn Lies

When I discovered that the Glasgow mafia were charging £50 for a drive belt, and their reasons for justifying the price, it brought back memories of how I had upset these rip off merchants with home truths over 35 years ago. As I still have the magazines, I could not resist bringing this to light on...

Linn Lies

I came across this on the Linn forum. http://forums.linn.co.uk/bb/showthread.php?tid=15798 Ivor’s offspring is attempting to distort history with lies, notably concerning the origin of the LP12 (see his second post). Some follow up posts show that even members of the priesthood had concerns about th...

Re: from rubber band to direct drive

In the early days, Linn didn't have a clue about setting the thing up right to maximise any sonic potential it had and it was Naim's Julian Vereker who got the set-up procedure together properly in 1977. He trained Jimmy Hughes and Jimmy trained me, with subsequent discussion with JV later on when ...

Re: from rubber band to direct drive

I seem to recall that there was a letter published in a subsequent issue of Popular Hi-Fi merely saying that Ivor's response was not convincing. Nothing substantive was published so to all intents and purposes he had the last word and I was a villain.

Re: from rubber band to direct drive

I am adding my penny’s worth as someone who did not fall under the spell of the Glasgow mafia in the 1980s. The Internet is exposing the extent of what they got away with, through their hold on dealers and the hi-fi press. Many have bit the bullet and realised they were conned in decades gone by, bu...
