I wish I’d came up with that remark. Mrs S nearly fell off her chair laughing when I told her.

Re: New names and numbers for NVA Power Amplifiers - discussion thread

To my mind, “Model Worker” has political overtones and I’m not convinced that this is going to attract buyers to NVA. Since it looks like NVA are determined to incorporate a name for each power amp why not call the whole range “Artisan” and keep the number suffix. After all, these are hand made amps.

Re: Simon McBride

Slinger, I didn’t see a telecaster in your collection. It’s obvious you do not have enough guitars - it’s impossible to have too many !

Re: A tale of two cassette decks.

Put the raspberry pi in the cassette player. It’s a great idea. I can see a market for this.

Re: VE day

I asked my mother today about VE Day and she said that she couldn’t really remember much about it. A few months ago she said that she had met Churchill on one of his “walkabouts”. We didn’t know anything about this until she just said it out of the blue. A different generation with a different attit...

Re: Bargains you've missed.

Went to one of the first guitar auctions back in the late 80s. A 1952 Les Paul went for £450 ! Daryl Hall of Hall and Oates fame outbid everybody for a guitar owned by Elvis. Saw him walk out of the auction room with the guitar. They were also knocking out a fair no of early 60s strats at £1300ish. ...

Re: New Turntable wanted

You should be able to pick up a Rega RP8 with an Apheta for less than £1k which should meet your requirements.

There’s a tempting proposition on eBay at the moment. A Pioneer PL71 currently at £100. Needs a counterweight, lid and a cartridge. I’m tempted to get it for spares for my pair of PL71s.

Re: Opinions on how the Government have handled the coronavirus outbreak

I also suspect that there is a lot of information which the government does not want in the public domain because (a) it’s probability a calculation that CV19 has the potential to be much more deadly than the government wants us to believe (b) it shows that a lack of investment in the NHS is going t...
