Re: System Pictures....
Excellent Sovereign. Nice result. Especially considering the price you paid. I know what you mean about the presentation of small speakers. With many of them it sounds like you're listening to a band who are playing in the road outside your house and you've got a couple of letterboxes open - which a...

Re: System Pictures....
The last pair of speakers I bought were on sale because the original owner died of old age.

Re: A CLASSIC CONUNDRUM....
The thing is, you're more likely to get a big sound from a big speaker than a little speaker. Hoffman's Iron Law. Also big speakers can be remarkably inexpensive 2nd hand because few people want them in their houses. You just need to avoid brands like Tannoy which have a following that pushes their ...

I've got a lot of 24' by 18' rooms in my house, which helps explain my taste in speakers.

£4.5k for Bozak Concert Grands is a joke. I paid £500 for my Symphonys. If you join the Yahoo Bozak group you'll see Bozaks for sale for less than $1000. I've seen Klipschorns go for less than £1500. Same with Altec 19's. There was a set of horn enthusiasts who got together in Germany a couple of ye...

Re: A CLASSIC CONUNDRUM....
Do you have any examples of one of these huge speakers that can keep the similar Roydous musicality, or at least a part of it? But since these cost over £7000 I don't think it's a very helpful suggestion if you are on a budget. I'm not a very good person to ask about budget speakers. Maybe Lindsay ...

Listen to Classic FM when out and about in your car. This is pretty much a Classical music for beginners radio station.
Go to your local Town Hall or classical music concert hall for a concert or two.

Re: NVA and 97db OB speakers
My 97 db efficient EV Sentry III's sound fine with solid state or valve amplification. They're not amplifier fussy. Your OB's may be the same, or you may prefer them with one type of amplification. Try your OB's with good examples of both to see which you prefer. (My son's just come into the room an...

Re: Need a answer re positive and negative - please
One thing to watch out for is if your bass units become out of phase with your midrange units - if they are intended to be in phase - or vica versa. With some speakers it's debatable as to whether the speakers sound better with the bass drivers in phase with the midrange units or not. One way may so...

Cool. I'm moving to underneath a National Grid powerline and stocking up on flourescent tubes to cut down on my electricity bills. For evenings when it's not foggy I'll just whip out some Hong Kong power cords to make enough smoke to get the tubes to light up.
