Re: Dual mono or separate transformers for input- and outputstage?

So then, if having a bigger PSU for the input stage improves the sound, and there is no commercial reason not to, why not? Because without knowing why it improves the sound we are just guessing. Now some may not worry or care, but some others do. Lets imaging a situation, we start with a 75va trans...

Honestly, no, I think everything that is not art should be evidence based, and I think we can apply the same perspective to both the small and the large.

Re: Dual mono or separate transformers for input- and outputstage?

As you know the capacitors also smooth the output waveform and a larger capacity PSU may well just use larger capacitors Yes, but the phrase "smooth the output" hides a lot of detail from a process that is far from simple involving the dynamic interaction of the transformer, rectifiers, c...

Re: Dual mono or separate transformers for input- and outputstage?

Thus, although the current may not be large a high capacity PSU is required to prevent throttling (basically what is going on in the Phono 3) Just think about that for a moment. The current is not being supplied from the transformers, but from the caps, the transformer then tops the caps up 100 tim...

fingers crossed
I am reasonably confidant that that will not affect the outcome.

Re: Opinions on how the Government have handled the coronavirus outbreak

The main objective is not to reduce the overall area under the curve over the weeks, months and years of the pandemic. Not sure if that was their plan, but it will have that effect as well. Until we get a vaccine the only limit to the area under the curve is the number of people in the uk. And even...

Re: Opinions on how the Government have handled the coronavirus outbreak

I'm quite aware of probability theory Well then you will know that what you wrote was wrong. but if you continue to go by the maths it will tell you never to prepare for a pandemic. No it won't, it will allow us to consider the risk (likely hood of it occurring * the potential damage it would cause...

Re: Opinions on how the Government have handled the coronavirus outbreak

if you go 99 yrs without one it gets more likely it will happen soon.
Just to be picky, that’s not how it works, The probability that a pandemic happens in any given year is constant, it doesn't increase with time. What you have said is a variation of the gamblers fallacy.
